Layout options

Several options for the route of the road have been considered and we are putting forward three options.

Option A follows the Local Plan safeguarded route, along the east side of the business park before crossing the railway line and taking a direct route westwards to the existing Plumstead Road East/Dussindale Drive junction, with two roundabouts between to slow traffic and access the housing development.

Option B goes through the middle of the Business Park and seeks to retain more of the tree belts and reduce traffic speeds by sharper turns, with the Plumstead Road East/Dussindale Drive junction further east.

Option C is similar to B, except at Middle Road a new alignment for the rail bridge would retain more existing trees and hedges and the Plumstead Road East junction is further east, with the existing Dussindale Drive junction unaltered.

The overriding objective is to configure the Link Road such that it blends into the natural landscape and topography
